Savvanta vs Indeed

Indeed is the largest job board in the world. It also ran a library of over 150 skills tests for years — and then discontinued the whole thing, globally, without a replacement. That decision is the most useful thing on this page.

Indeed switched its assessments off. Indeed discontinued self-serve and employer-requested assessments worldwide and did not replace the tool, saying the skills tests added confusion and extra steps for everyone involved. Employers can no longer ask a job seeker to take an Indeed skills test. Indeed's position is that the profile, and real-world experience, are the better signal.

Where do candidates come from, and how many?

Indeed

Enormous top-of-funnel volume, which is the entire point of it and something Savvanta cannot do. That volume is also the problem it hands you: across 6,000+ companies and 640 million applications, applications per job went from about 115 to 244, while applications per recruiter rose 411%.

Savvanta

Zero. We are the instrument you point at the applicants Indeed already sent you.

What this meansIndeed's job is to make the pile bigger. Nothing about that job includes making the pile easier to judge, and since the assessments were discontinued Indeed no longer claims it does.

What evaluation is available inside the platform?

Indeed

None from Indeed itself as of October, when self-serve and employer-requested assessments were discontinued globally with no replacement. Screener questions and the profile remain.

Savvanta

A role-specific task, continuously recorded, marked against a published scheme, confirmed by a human. Sixty-four roles have their mark scheme published on this site with no signup.

What this meansIf you were relying on Indeed Assessments as your screening layer, that layer no longer exists and the decision in front of you is what replaces it — not whether to replace it.

Who is on the other end of the application?

Indeed

An account. Identity is not established, and both Indeed and LinkedIn have publicly wrestled with AI-generated and fraudulent applications. Gartner projects that by 2028 one in four candidate profiles worldwide will be fake.

Savvanta

Webcam, microphone and a full-monitor screen share are collected in one gate before the attempt exists. Deny any of them and the assessment does not start and the clock does not run. There is no reduced-proctoring path and no employer toggle that turns it off. The face on the webcam is on record for the entire attempt, and the follow-up requires the candidate to explain their own work out loud.

What this meansA job board cannot solve impersonation and does not claim to. It is solvable only at the point where somebody has to do the work. See what fraud actually looks like.

What Indeed does better

Read the thing itself rather than a claim about it. The report an employer receives is published in full — real criteria, real weights, an invented candidate, and the conduct finding placed above the score. No form.

Frequently asked questions

Are Indeed Assessments still available?

No. Indeed discontinued self-serve and employer-requested assessments globally and did not replace them, saying the tests added confusion and extra steps. Employers can no longer send an Indeed skills test to a job seeker.

What replaced Indeed Assessments?

Nothing inside Indeed. Indeed's stated position is that the profile and real-world experience are the better signal, so the evaluation step now has to sit outside the job board.

Does Savvanta post jobs to Indeed?

No. Savvanta has no job distribution. You keep posting wherever you post; the assessment link goes to the applicants worth a closer look.

We hire high-volume hourly roles from Indeed. Is Savvanta the right shape?

Not for the first sieve. A recorded, human-confirmed assessment is the wrong instrument for cutting 2,000 applicants to 200. It is the right instrument for the last 20, particularly for customer-facing and call-centre roles where the assessment is a live spoken call.
